We will work with a client to build a business plan as they consider entering a market. Our research will quantify market size, customers to target, risks involved, and the costs of doing business. We will compile all the necessary documents to get the client up and running with FERC, the ISOs and/or State Commissions. We help the client through the process, which is time and order sensitive, so that the client is able to serve customers when desired.

Our electricity procurement and pricing service is a mix of quantitative analysis and process management. For those clients that wish to procure wholesale electric supply over the medium to long term, we offer complete turn-key assistance from issuing Request for Qualifications (RFQ’s) and Request for Proposal (RFP’s) to recommending a successful bidder prior to contract award. At the retail level, we offer pricing model analysis in specific ISO markets. This review demands a thorough understanding of the various markets conducted by an ISO in order to accurately and profitably price out retail customers while mitigating risk.

In an energy marketing business, where the product for sale has no physical representation or inventory, it is paramount that all segments of operations communicate well. We offer complete load management services that includes scheduling of load and any captive generation in the Day Ahead and Real time markets, management of capacity obligations and optimal utilization of any captive capacity resources that the client may own. We also manage the procurement of ancillary services in the ISO markets.

Customized Energy Solutions offers comprehensive congestion risk management services which builds upon our regulatory consulting practice. We calculate the costs to the Load Serving Entity with respect to the difference in prices between their power sources and the locations where they are serving customers (often called sinks).  We have developed propriety software including extensive LMP databases and detailed power flow models which we use to provide this analysis.

We work with clients to determine their demand side response capabilities and assist them in optimizing this capability in the wholesale and retail markets.  This includes evaluating participation in wholesale programs such as the ISO’s Demand Side Response run programs.  Additionally, at the retail level we work with clients to adjust consumption patterns to reduce costs of retail bills.

ISO bills are among the most complex invoices a company may ever receive. It is therefore important to audit and verify ISO invoices in order to identify any errors. With our superior understanding of ISO business rules and billing practices, we can assist clients in auditing and reconciling ISO bills.  Our thorough review of the ISO invoice can identify opportunities for savings through operational changes.
